Hotels in Kerala

Hotels in Kerala are not the only available form of accommodation in Kerala. For the tourists, God's own land shows a variery even in the case of accommodation. Along with the traditional, conventional hotels, Kerala also offers tourists' accommodation in the boathouse in the backwater region, treehouses, nature resorts and in certain types of farms that have specialized form of accommodation. The tree houses in Kerala are ethnic houses built on trees with basic facilities. The houses are located in 500 acres of clear verdant tropical rainforest in Wayanad Sactuary, North Kerala. The tree tops are generally 86 feet from the ground level. Access to the Tree House is carried out by an indigenous cane lift and is worked out by a unique counter weight of water. Each tree House has a double bed with an attched bathroom with flushing toilette, telephone, shower, wash basin with running water, carpeted verandah and sit-out.
These houses are generally made with ethnic materials using local craftsmen, local materials an indigenous techniques that are used by early inhabitants. The tribals are extensively involved in buiding and maintaing tree houses. In the extended sense of the term, these are famous hotels in Kerala. Accommodation offered in traditional farm is also famous. Haritha Farms is one such farms and the acommodation includes comfortable and clean bungalows that are typically constructed in traditional Kerala style. The private balcony attached to these rooms offers a glorious view of the green native forest and the paddy fields.
