How to Reach Manipur

Manipur is one of the seven sister states of the northeastern part of India. The oval surrounded by the beautiful hills Have always attracted the tourists. A large number of rivers flow through this region such as Iril, Imphal, Irang, Barak and Thoubal. But in order to visit this place, you should know how to reach Manipur. Manipur is a northeastern border state and thus there are various formalities which you have to fulfill in order to visit the place. The foreign nationals visiting Manipur should have a Restricted Area Permit issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
This permit can be obtained from the Indian Missions situated abroad or from the the Foreign Regional Registration Office situated in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. It can also be obtained from the Home Commissioner, Government of Manipur. This is situated in Imphal. For Indian nationals, the Inner Line Permit is required which is issued by the Liaison officers of Government of Nagaland. The offices are at Guwahati, Shillong, New Delhi, Kolkata and Dimapur.

How to reach Manipur by Road:
Road network in Manipur is well maintained. Manipur is well connected with all the major cities such as Dimapur, Guwahati, Silchar, Kohima as well as other northeastern states through the National Highway 39. The roads are maintained by the BSF who maintain the roads from time to time.

How to reach Manipur by Rail:
There is no direct train services to Manipur. But Manipur is well connected via roads to all the major northeastern cities such as Guwahati, Silchar, Kohima, Dimapur and others. You can come to these cities via train and then take the bus or car services from there and reach Manipur.

How to reach Manipur by Air:
The airport in Manipur is located in Imphal, the capital city. This is a natioanl airport and a large number of flights come from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Other smaller cities also have flight services to Manipur.
