Mizoram is located at the southernmost part of North Eastern India. Mizoram is also referred to as the land of the Blue Mountains. Manipur, Assam and Tripura are the surrounding states of Mizoram and its neighboring countries are Myanmar and Bangladesh. Tourism in Mizoram is on the rise and it is a paradise for nature loving people since it is a land of rolling hills, rivers and lakes. In Mizoram, there are as many as 21 major hill ranges and peaks that are found in the different places of Mizoram. In addition to this, there are many beautiful lakes which are scattered all over the state. Amongst these beautiful lakes, the most important ones are Palak, Tamdil, Rungdil, and Rengdil. Some important rivers of Mizoram are Tlawng, Tut or Gutur, Tuirial or Sonai and Tuivawl.

Weather of Mizoram remains favorable throughout the year since it has a mild climate. The summer in Mizoram is usually cool and the cold during winter is not very extreme. The winter temperatures in Mizoram vary from 11ºC to 21ºC and in summer season they vary from 20ºC to 29ºC. Another important thing about Mizoram weather that should be mentioned is the fact that the entire area remains under the regular influence of monsoons. Heavy rains start from May and continue up to September. The average rainfall in Mizoram is 254 cm, per annum.
